After reading Good’s latest magazine it was brilliant just how many articles on making good environmental choices there were: eco-friendly gift ideas and packaging (especially with Christmas approaching), people being beach heroes by taking the time to pick up rubbish they see and ways to have zero picnic waste themselves, being an eco-goddess with cleaning products, making your own skin treatment using avocado – I felt more upbeat and optimistic about New Zealand’s environment from reading about the ways people are really caring for our environment and passing on the challenge for us all to be an eco hero. Barb Shaw It has been a crazy busy year with getting married, buying a house and starting my journey of becoming a midwife. This study break I am carving some space into…

Maggie Hewitt’s eco luxe fashion label Maggie Marilyn rocketed to success after it was picked up by Net A Porter. Now she is giving everyone something else to write about with the global launch of Somewhere – an affordable diffusion line of quality basics constructed to last a lifetime. Unlike other diffusion lines, which are usually of a lesser quality when it comes to fabric choice and construction, Hewitt has done more than two years of fabric testing to ensure the durability of the organic cotton, New Zealand merino and regenerated nylon fabrics. All garments are traceable through each tier of the supply chain from farm to finished garment, manufactured in New Zealand, and developed so they can be remanufactured into new garments when shipped back to Maggie Marilyn HQ.…
