All the things that make summer so magical suddenly seem possible again—COVID-19 vaccines are finally available to anyone age 16 or older in Colorado. It’s sooner than I expected, and my dreams of traveling across the country to spend the Fourth of July with my parents suddenly seem possible. I hope you, too, are feeling optimistic about…

three women who shaped crochet

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Interweave Crochet—15 years of celebrating the best in crochet design and bringing readers patterns from both new and iconic designers. Today we celebrate three of those iconic designers: Dora Ohrenstein, Lily M. Chin, and Doris Chan. Over the years, they’ve hooked us with their passion, humor, and love of crochet. As we look back on their careers thus far, we also reflect on the lasting impact they’ve made on this crochet community. DORA OHRENSTEIN Imagine looking out the window of your floating home, feeling the gentle sway as the water glistens in the sun. You are 20 years old, entering adulthood aboard a houseboat in Amsterdam, feeling the soft pull of yarn through your fingers. This is how Dora Ohrenstein’s crochet career began. Dora didn’t have…
