welcome to my favourite time of the year!

It’s no secret in my family that I just love Christmas. In fact, the very first edition of this gorgeous magazine, back in 2015, was entirely designed around how to have a happier, healthier festive season. That original spirit shines through this beautiful issue, too. Personally, I like nothing more than to deck the halls with boughs of holly, ivy and foraged foliage, and I’ve shared a super-easy way to make a splendid scented wreath. It looks so good you won’t want to take it down. Our pages are filled with so many of my favourite things, from homemade beauty treats to surprise and delight, heavenly aromas of all kinds, celebratory cocktails and lots of botanical ways of wellbeing. Not to mention helpful strategies for surviving (even thriving!) during this often-stressful…

mind over matter

CHAMOMILE Chamaemelum nobile Nothing soothes frazzled nerves quite like a mug of warm chamomile tea. Proven to help treat insomnia and anxiety, its mildly sedative properties are thanks to a plant pigment called apigenin – also present in celery, parsnip and celeriac. While perfect for an afternoon snooze, chamomile is best avoided before a festive game of trivia; studies show that while you’ll remain calm under pressure, it will temporarily hamper cognitive function. TRY IT For a spicy yet soothing winter warmer, gently simmer one stick of cinnamon, a thumb of grated ginger and a sprinkling of cloves in a small saucepan of water, before adding chamomile tea and leaving to steep for five minutes. ROSEMARY Rosmarinus officinalis Long associated with improved memory, garlands of rosemary were famously gifted to students in Ancient Greece to boost…
