what we love about february

1. FRESHMAN CLASS Pack your shower caddy, mini-fridge, and red Solo cups: Black-ish’s Zoey Johnson is headed to college. Watch the crazy-talented (and, IRL, Harvardbound) Yara Shahidi, as Johnson, cope with roommates, finals, frat parties, and more when Grown-ish premieres on Freeform this month. 2. HAPPY NEW YEAR! February 16 marks the start of the Chinese New Year. Kick off the Year of the Dog with friends, family, and firecrackers. 3. MONSTER MASH There’s nothing better than a hike in the great outdoors, right? Well, not if you’re in a sci-fi horror flick. Watch Natalie Portman lead an all-female expedition into a creepy, uninhabited land (alongside Gina Rodriguez and Tessa Thompson) in Annihilation, hitting theaters February 23. 4. FLOWER POWER Winter blues? Ferragamo’s Paul Andrew has a cure. The womenswear creative director developed a spring-pretty peony print…

Perhaps this is the beginning of real change. The more this conduct is publicly shamed, the less acceptable it will become behind closed…

Leap of Faith The October issue inspired me on multiple levels. I moved to Englewood, New Jersey, about three months ago after quitting my job. I left because I finally gave myself the permission to pursue my passion. My work ethic was never in question, but my self-confidence was. I realized I could be as bold as Taraji [P. Henson] when she moved to L.A. with $700 and a dream (“Totally Taraji”). I deserve to give myself the same chance if it means I’ll actually be happy. Alaya Lynae, Englewood, NJ Take a Spin Imagine my surprise seeing the cycling bus my son and I rode featured in my favorite magazine (“Next Big Thing”—BikeBus)! “Biking” over the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge in Boston was amazing. Thanks for spotlighting this new way…
