awesome MAXIM photo shoot feature, Emily, congrats. How do you feel? Thanks, I feel honoured! I loved the vibe I was trying to portray in this shoot — European-lux . When do you feel sexy? When I’m training consistently and eating well. Tell us a bit more about yourself. I have been in the fitness industry for seven years and within the last two years transitioned completely online as an online coach, so I am able to help people all around the world. I am also a bikini competitor and prepare for bikini competitions, so a lot of discipline is required. And I do a little bit of modelling on the side. What would people be most surprised to know about you? I’m a twin! But we look nothing alike — she is actually blonde with blue…

mean green machines

Money. Music. Gasoline. Burnt rubber. Cooked brake-pads. Certain people are attuned to these things; just as others are attuned to color, or sound, or white truffles, or style. And every once in a blue moon the Venn diagram overlaps, all these things converge, and one finds oneself staring down the barrel of iconography. In this realm beasts do roam; and one of the unicorns roaming in this rarefied mist is, and arguably always has been, Aston Martin. From a collaboration of two friends on the cusp of the Great War building racecars in Great Britain grew a national institution, nay a global obsession. Bamford & Martin was incorporated in 1913 and was always about going fast. By the time David Brown acquired it as Aston Martin in 1947, along with…

alpha deltaomega

In a ground breaking move, they recently unveiled their new production C-Series cafe racer style bikes on Facebook — the first high-performance electric motorbikes made in Australia. Available in three models, Alpha, Delta and Omega, they vary from a 25 kW city ride to a 60 kW road trip with 2 to 4 hour charge times. The Alpha can reach 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, The Delta in 4.5 and The Omega in 5.5. Not bad for plug in power. Surprisingly, the batteries are smaller than those found on the Zero (14.4 kWh), Harley-Davidson LiveWire (15.5 kWh), and Energica (21 kWh) bikes. The largest capacity from Savic is the 11 kWh unit in the Alpha paired with a 60 kW motor made of billet machined aluminum with a red belt that…

beton black

Similar to its Death Star namesake, the 2022 Black Star joins the dark side, with a heavy black finish. A nice contrast of matte gray is added, along with attention-grabbing red accents on the valve covers. Power comes in hits from the Testastretta DVT 1262 motor, sending the traction control into extra duty to control the rear rubber. A solid 118 kW kick and 127 nm of torque sends your backside into the bucket saddle in any gear. The long wheelbase and huge rear Pirelli give the impression it just wants to go straight; but the light forged-alloys say different — allowing it to steer with market leading agility. They’ll never be a need to rev like there's no tomorrow; the Black Star produces more peak torque at 2000 rpm than Ducati’s legendary…

automobile 2.0

The flying car concept has been around for more than 100 years, with the first one, the Curtiss Autoplane, introduced in 1917. It could lift slightly off the ground, but could never achieve full flight. There was a Delorean in the 1980s that could fly, but that had timing issues. Fast forward to today, and a Japanese aviation firm is planning for its flying car, the SkyDrive SD-XX, to be a mainstream vehicle by 2030. The SD-XX is different from vertical takeoff aircraft that can only take off and land in a fixed locations. On the SD-XX, the pilot can land and drive away. The ability to use roads and only take up two parking spaces could be a game changer. Unlike previous generations of flying cars, the SD-XX has a…

a gt3 for the wrist

In 1972 Porsche Design was launched by Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche, the man credited with penning what is arguably the most iconic automobile in history: the original 911. The design firm’s very first product was a timepiece, the Chronograph I — the first watch to use automotive-grade powder-coating for an all-matte black patina. But F. A. didn’t demand matte black to forecast style trends, rather because he wanted to avoid glare when a track driver glanced down at his watch. For Butzi, and most of German design since the Bauhaus movement, form always follows function. Never the other way around. It is from this modernist soil that Porsche Design evolved, as have its timepieces over the years. In 2017 the brand premiered what they dub the Porsche Design for Porsche (PD4P)…
