welcome

2020 has certainly been a year of change. And now it’s time for a change here at Model Rail, for this is my last issue as the magazine’s editor. Not only am I handing the Model Rail controller over to someone else but I’m also leaving Bauer Media too, my ‘home’ for the last 16 years. It’s also been a privilege to serve you, the Model Rail reader and I’d like to thank you all for your thoughtful comments, feedback, support…

Revealed at the MIOG Live Virtual ‘O’ Gauge Show, Heljan declared that it will be offering the BRCW/Sulzer Class 26 and 27 next year, as well as the Class 73/1 in 2022. Engineering samples have already been received of both the Class 26 and Class 27, and the models are expected to include sprung buffers, wire handrails, etched metal grilles, separately fitted windscreen wipers and detailed bogies and bufferbeams. The Class 26 was first released by Heljan in 2011, but the single bodyshell option restricted it to the late 1960s/ early 1970s eras. This time, three different bodyshells have been designed, to cater for key elements such as tablet catcher recesses…
