Measure for measure
My New Year’s resolution to improve my physical wellbeing starts with taking a baseline measurement of my body’s current condition. The Body Mass Index (BMI) seems to be the accepted measure and I did consider taking a measurement of my BMI, but it is a difficult ask. I have a body like a chicken’s: legs too skinny and middle too round. The BMI of my legs is Twiggy and the BMI of my middle is Santa Claus. The main issue I have with BMI is that it isn’t relevant to me or the life I lead. I want to measure my body’s ability to endure another year of war, poverty and plague, and the measurements need to be easy to calculate and relevant to my lifestyle.
