Anne has recently defended genetically modified farming, saying GM crops could have important benefits for providing food and she would happily grow them on her land. Charles, however, has described the genetic modification of food as “the biggest disaster, environmentally, of all time”. This latest stoush does not surprise royal observers, who say the brother and sister are polar opposites when it comes to environmental issues.
