She’s had a special connection with the royal family for decades, so it was no surprise to many New Zealanders that Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was chosen as one of the small contingent to travel to England for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth. As photos go, it’s a lovely shot. Despite all wearing black while still in mourning for the Queen, King Charles III, his wife Camilla, Queen Consort, son William, Prince of Wales and daughter-in-law Catherine, Princess of Wales, look comfortable and at ease in the picture taken at Buckingham Palace. But there’s more to this image than might first meet the eye. Much has been made of how Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex are planning to spill the beans on what life was really like in the royal family for both their Netflix documentary series and Harry’s tell-all memoir. But following the death of the Queen, they’ve made a dramatic U-turn, and desperately want to edit the show and the book to remove potentially controversial things they have said about other family members.
