The dangerous feud between warring brothers Robert and Andy reaches a grim conclusion this week – leaving both men fighting for their lives! In a sickening recreation of the collision they had 10 years ago – which killed Jimmy King’s little brother Max – the Sugden brothers drive head-on at each other when the bad blood between them boils over. As their vehicles spin out of control, Robert and Andy are left for dead in a bed of twisted metal – so, after a lifetime of fighting, have they managed to destroy each other at last? “Both brothers are prepared to die at this point,” says Ryan Hawley, who plays Robert. “Each of them has lost quite a lot and is very hurt. Emmerdale is famous for its thrilling stunts – so what was it like to work on such a dramatic set piece? “I don’t handle any of the dangerous driving stuff, unfortunately,” reveals Ryan. “The stunt men step in. But it’s nice to do action scenes like this because they’re so exciting. The one thing you have to do as an actor is to step up your game and try that little bit harder – since you don’t want the acting dwarfed by the action.” So far, it’s been a pretty scary year to be Robert Sugden, with all the violence he’s been part of and the repeated attempts on his life.
