A fun summer afternoon turned frightening for Simon Cowell on Aug. 8. While testing out his new electric trail bike at his Malibu house, the America’s Got Talent judge, 60, fell and broke part of his back. “He had to have a number of fusions and a metal rod put into his back,” a source says of Cowell, who was hospitalized and underwent a five-hour surgery. “The injuries are bad, but he’s also been told he was lucky.” A day after the accident, Cowell tweeted a “massive thank you” to his medical team.
