AS I compose this cyclone, Gabrielle is upon us, and with winds currently gusting 100kph, our barn home/office is rocking and rolling. We are safe and dry; this will all be history in a couple of days. Sadly, it's another chapter of an extremely wet summer here in Northland and reaching down to Auckland. Looking out my window at the moment, the rain is flowing horizontally at such volume and speed that it is flowing over the roof of the neighbour's car and producing a visual vapour trail akin to the smoke vortices seen flowing over race cars when they're being tested for coefficient of drag in a wind tunnel.
