AS I compose this cyclone, Gabrielle is upon us, and with winds currently gusting 100kph, our barn home/office is rocking and rolling. We are safe and dry; this will all be history in a couple of days. Sadly, it's another chapter of an extremely wet summer here in Northland and reaching down to Auckland. Looking out my window at the moment, the rain is flowing horizontally at such volume and speed that it is flowing over the roof of the neighbour's car and producing a visual vapour trail akin to the smoke vortices seen flowing over race cars when they're being tested for coefficient of drag in a wind tunnel. History Search HI, here are pics of shed-stored 1926 Ford Model T, which hasn't been on the road for 27 years. It is unusual as it is a five-seater has a 272 Ford Y-block with a number plate KZ 6893. Any info about its history would be greatly appreciated. Project Loud ‘37 THE humpback four-door sedan was regarded as the ugliest of the ugly duckling 1937 Ford models, but this version currently under construction at Magoos Street Rods is set to disprove that theory. LLOYD has been a keen hot rodder for the best part of his 61 years, and soon as he turned 15 years of age, he joined a local New Plymouth hot rod club, Scenic City Rod & Custom Club. Over the past 46 years, he has owned a few nice cars. Along life's highway, he did his apprenticeship in car painting and, for a period, owned his own Paint Shop business for several years. The opportunity to be employed by Resene Automotive & Light Industrial came up. It fits his and Meredith's lifestyles. During these teen and middle age years, along with his lovely wife Meredith, they became proud parents to three children and now grandparents to three ankle tappers. GREENSTONE Rod and Custom club was formed in April 1973 by a bunch of keen young car enthusiasts, probably more like V8 boys, who lived on the West Coast of the south island. Most lived in Greymouth and surrounding areas. The club became incorporated on 22nd August 1973 and was accepted as a charter club to NZHRA on 25th November that same year. Larry Wehner was instrumental by doing much of the legwork with many handwritten letters; even the old typewriter was in action! The majority of the original members, although not necessarily directly involved in the club, are still around, with many present at this year's celebration prizegiving.
