simply sewing fresh ideas with fabric

This issue comes with a little bit of sparkle! We can’t wait to get started on making The Jewel Dress – we’re not quite sure when we’ll get to wear it, but shopping for luxurious fabric for a special occasion is almost as exciting as the event itself! Speaking of sparkle, we are loving the luxe tote in this issue which puts all our other canvas bags to shame! We have some really playful makes for little ones too this month, including the cosy Kid’s Sweatshirt, an adorable plushie penguin toy, and an adventure play mat. And of course you’ll find lots of festive sewing projects in here too! ‘Tis the season after all... And for your home – possibly our most playful Christmas makes to date (p28)! Who could possibly resist that kitsch apron. I mean, seriously?…

Kate loves to discover new things. That’s what drew her to sewing in the first place. It’s the perfect hobby because, while you can make something half decent straight away, there’s always more to learn. That’s also the ethos behind In a Haystack, the digital sewing subscription service Kate runs. It’s all about discovering and celebrating small creative businesses, while learning more about the fascinating world of sewing and textiles. Every month, members of the pack get a PDF sewing pattern, discounts for fabric shops and other treats, interviews, tips and tricks, and more, sent straight to their inbox. “It combines the excitement of subscription boxes with other bonuses made possible by the pack’s digital nature, like flexibility to choose your own fabric, and often to swap the pattern if you already…
