with love and thanks!

Ever since Super Food Ideas launched 22 years ago, we’ve loved creating uncomplicated yet irresistible recipes. We’ve reinvented favourites like apricot chicken, curried sausages and beef stroganoff, so they’ve never gone out of style, and created amazing and memorable party cakes and Christmas showstoppers. This is the final print issue of SFI, and we’re excited to be going out with a bang, doing what we do best – helping you cook brilliantly on a budget. In fact for this annual budget issue we’ve taken things to the next level with everything from mains that make the most of pantry staples (p24), to fun bites to share (p66), indulgent winter crumbles (p74) and more. And this is not the end! Far from it! All our existing and upcoming recipes and everything you love…

“IT WAS SO EASY TO MAKE!” BIRTHDAY MAGIC I made the Fairy Bread Ice-cream Cake (January/February 2020, p78) for my daughter’s 10th birthday – it was so easy to make and tasted awesome! I added her favourite chocolate ice-cream as one of the layers and it looked amazing! Thank you. Erin, via email USE YOUR LOAF I absolutely loved the lunch loaves on the cover (January/February 2020, p24) and will have it on high rotation for lunches. The best part is that you can use up leftovers (I added sweet potato) and mix up the recipes with whatever ingredients you have. Lucy Schmidt, via email SNAG A WINNER Thank you Super Food Ideas! After 26 years of marriage, I have finally made curried sausages. My husband loves curried sausages, but I have never been a fan, until…

“IT’S EASY TO EAT WELL ON A BUDGET – BUY FRESH SEASONAL PRODUCE AND MAKE SOME SMART PROTEIN SWAPS.” Kim Coverdale, Food Director Being on a budget doesn’t mean skimping on your health. On the contrary, highly processed foods have fewer nutrients and can be more expensive than meals made using fresh produce. Buy cheaper cuts of meat which are perfect for winter slow-cooking, or swap meat for more inexpensive sources of protein like eggs, canned fish, or pulses and beans. Pick up seasonal fruit and veg while they are at their cheapest and best. Or snap up frozen veg that can be more nutritious and cheaper than fresh. Check out our budget recipes, right, for inspiration and turn to p16 for my top 10 budget tips. FIBRE by the numbers… Essential for healthy…
