editor’s letter

A sigh is rolling across the whole world. Not of satisfaction, resulting from a sustained binge of Christmas holiday pleasures and Netflix. Neither is it a sigh of wonder, as we collectively soak ourselves in the next-gen graphics of our newly acquired consoles. No, ’tis simply a sigh of relief: 2020’s over. Without a doubt, the year that was has been tough on us all, with a life-altering pandemic, a once-in-a-generation shift in working patterns and the retail scene changing, possibly irrevocably. However, we’re hopefully entering a brighter year. Not only should our most vulnerable loved ones soon receive a vaccine (a real miracle, so please do your bit and get yours as soon as it’s your turn) but it’s a chance to start looking to the future once again. 1 RAZER BOOK 13 From $2,199, razer.com Did you miss it? Razer’s slow creep into the non-gaming market has been, if you’ll forgive the pun, something of a stealth move. The Blade line of laptops does all the big flashy gamer stuff, such as the Blade Stealth, but it’s seen entries like the Studio Edition emerge on the side, dishing up high-powered hardware for creatives in a Mac-ish silver shell. Thus far, though, the company’s non game-oriented laptops have always tended towards the very highest end. With the Razer Book 13 comes a laptop for the rest of us, one with its sights firmly focused on matching, or even bettering, Dell’s revered XPS 13. It has the look, with a super-compact shell and slim bezels on all four sides of the screen. It’s…

It’s designed to be worn in extreme weather, but also has deep pockets to house your camera body and lens, plus extra compartments for SD cards, spare batteries, and other accessories. The jacket offers a hard-wearing Cordura shell, high-frequency seam sealing to keep drafts out, and 800-fill European goose down to keep you toasty. A graphene lining provides “revolutionary heat regulation” right down to -25C. It’s also antimicrobial, anti-UV and anti-radiation, and reduces humidity. The design and location of the pockets are intended to protect your camera and its batteries from the cold, using your body heat to prevent damage. Some…
