THE 2022 PRESTIGE Truck Centre Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) is scheduled to go ahead after four years in the wilderness. The most prestigious enduro event in the southern hemisphere will run May 4-7 based in Erica, Victoria. This will be the 41st edition of the traditional time-card enduro. The Dandenong Motorcycle Club boasts loads of experience when it comes to running enduro events and their rich history promises to deliver yet again in 2022. MOST OF YOU will know of the Yellow Mountain Cross Country. It’s a two-day race between Condobolin and Tottenham in the central west of NSW covering 240km each day over the first weekend in August each year. Yellow Mountain has become quite popular in recent years with entry capped at 250 riders. What most do not know, however, is that there is a four-round series run over two weekends run by the same clubs. Each weekend has a three-hour race at Condobolin on Saturday and another at Tottenham on Sunday. Rounds 1 and 2 will be held in May and rounds 3 and 4 in June. RIDER ENTRIES FOR the 2022 Tatt’s Finke Desert Race were set to go live on 1 February, and like most years were tipped to fill fast. However, there have been a number of changes to eligibility to ensure riders meet a minimum riding standard. Riders must make a declaration upon entry. If they have not competed in Finke before they must have competed in an International, National or State-style event to satisfy the Finke Desert Race of their capability. The other big news is entry is no longer available to ATVs, or quad bikes. VALE SYD MOORE IT IS WITH great sadness we report the passing of Syd Moore on 14 December 2021. Syd was a mate of Geoff Eldridge, ADB’s founder and often appeared in the magazine in the early days as a test rider. Syd was a prominent enduro rider in the 1970s and 1980s with a Rakman Enduro Series win in 1977, a Silver Medal in the 1978 ISDE, an Outright at the Canberra Two Day and two NSW Over-35 Hare Scramble Titles to his name. He also competed in the Australasian Safari in a car. Syds’ motorcycling career started at the age of 14 when he bought a WLA Harley in bits for $2 and assembled it into running order. FLYING CARS THAT’S IT, I’VE SEEN IT ALL NOW! Last month the very first flying car race took place. It was a practice run for a series of ground-breaking races named the EXA Series. The historic first electric flying car Grand Prix will be contested by the world’s best Speeder pilots. They will race blade-to-blade at speeds of up to 300km/h in locations where racing has never taken place before.
