past times but not fast times

We all have our favorite pastimes, hobbies, and whatnot. I’ve gone from boats to dirt bikes to off-road truck racing, back to boats, to overlanding and more. More recently, it’s been drag racing. The old 7.3L that I bought as a tow rig in 2003 went under the knife a few years back for a substantial overhaul. 300/200 injectors from Swamps went in; a fuel system from Irate Diesel backed the injectors up; an Adrenaline HPOP from Diesel Site kept them fed with oil; fire-ringed heads (cause I was planning on swinging for the fences at some point) also from Swamps were used; N2O from Nitrous Express and a turbo from BD provided the air/O2; a transmission from Diesel Site backed it up; along with a ton of other parts…

RUDY’S FALL DIESEL JAM The Outlaw Diesel Super Series wrapped up its race season at Piedmont Dragway recently, and all the heavy hitters were set on kill. Jared Jones would wrap up things in Pro Dragster aboard the Scheid Diesel rail, Dustin Jackson claimed yet another top finish in Pro Street, and Rudy’s Performance Parts’ own Rawlings Barnes took home first place in Pro Mod, with a best pass of 4.71. Josh Scruggs would grab the W in 5.90 Index, Mike Coleman wound up out front in 6.70, and the ever-dominant Ryan Riddle continued cleaning house with his 7.70 Index Dodge for the overall win (his third first place and fifth trip to the finals in 2018). RAM SALES RISE 9 PERCENT Things are definitely peachy right now for…

project looks. muscle. longevity

Project Looks. Muscle. Longevity returns once again. While some of you may be getting tired of seeing this truck, we know others have faithfully been following its transformation this past year from a stock “grandpa” truck with high mileage and a camper shell to the 600hp street stomper it is today. Originally, the plan was to show Duramax owners what the aftermarket had available for the 2011-2016 GM trucks to make them better fit each owner’s specific needs. Fine-tune that basic Silverado into the ultimate daily driver and weekend tow rig with plenty of horsepower and looks to go around. Of course, with the higher mileage (117K) when we took ownership of the truck, proper maintenance and improving longevity were also key.In one of the first installments in this…

Jess McDaniel was never really a car person. Growing up as one of the boys, she became acquainted with riding four-wheelers at an early age, developed an affinity for Class 8 trucks thanks to her father, and sprang for a diesel pickup almost as soon as she could drive. Her first truck, a 12-valve-powered second-gen with a five-speed, was eventually replaced with an immaculate ’06 common-rail. Then the third-gen was unloaded in favor of the ’12 Quad Cab shown here. Like the two Cummins-powered Rams that preceded it, this one didn’t stay stock for very long, either. Fleece-Built After initially treating the truck to a 5-inch Flo-Pro exhaust system and EFI Live tuning at Fleece Performance Engineering, McDaniel once again left the truck in Fleece’s care in the fall…
