Philippine Tatler Traveller

LONDON CALLING…

With Kaye Tinga at Kenwood House
W Maldives private island Gaathafushi

Philippine Tatler Traveller (PTT) trains its lenses on London for this year's annual Art of Luxury Travel issue. On our cover are bright young sisters Kerry and Kylie Tinga, who both recently completed uni in the British capital.

From our base at the splendid Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, we spent three glorious spring days running frenetically from one location to another, as we photographed the girls in spots like Kenwood House and Primrose Hill, as well as around the V&A and Kensington Gardens. Get to know Kerry and Kylie's personal insights on the priceless city that they now consider a second home in My Fair Ladies, (p. 150). I am deeply grateful to London-based Filipino designer Lesley Mobo, for his invaluable collaboration and to ever supportive mum, Kaye Tinga, our behind-the-scenes angel.

One couldn't ask for a better location than The Mandarin Oriental, sandwiched between fashionable Knightsbridge (Harrods is literally footsteps away) and leafy Hyde Park. Staying at the newly renovated heritage property—which combines the best of old-world glamour with contemporary innovations and service beyond impeccable—is nothing short of a dream.

For this issue, PTT also travelled across the Indian Ocean to the spectacular W Maldives. On the last day of an all-too-brief visit, I had the most blissful massage at their Away Spa followed by sunset champagne cocktails at W Maldives' Private Island, Gaathafushi. We had the little island, with its powdery sand, all to ourselves that afternoon—apart from a school of baby mantas that swam right by us. My thanks to Nina Karas for an unforgettable Escape to Paradise, (p. 132).

Let's travel vicariously with Katrina Razon, Tina Cuevas, Ana de Ocampo, the Kienle family, and more—as they open windows into their own recent journeys.
