Philippine Tatler

BEYOND EARTH Is there life out there? Find out more in our feature, “Written in the Stars” (page 212)

This is a special issue—nay, a milestone of an issue. For the first time, all eight editions of Asia Tatler (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, and the Philippines) will carry the same cover. (Now, why didn’t we think of this sooner?) For this milestone, we boldly go where Asia Tatler has never gone before: outer space.

Meet Yuri and Julia Milner, a philanthropist couple who are on a mission to lead scientific research on anything and everything about space—through brilliant minds. The couple, both born in Russia, are the founders of the Breakthrough Prize, considered as the Oscars of Science. Their co-founders are Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, Google’s Sergey Brin, and 23andMe’s Anne Wojcicki. Their quest is to find an answer to the universal question: Is there life beyond our planet?

Congratulations to Sean Fitzpatrick, Asia Tatler chief content officer and managing director, who came up with this brilliant idea. The feature certainly positions the magazine under the international spotlight.

This month serves as our second Fashion Issue of the year. We lead off with the men’s and women’s international runway collections for f/w 2018. Then check out the oustanding photography by our favourite LA-based lensman, Eric Michael Roy; an exclusive on the latest Givenchy collection; PJ Pascual’s New York fashion week reportage; and a spectacular style spread with IT girl/actress/wife/style icon Heart Evangelista who models jewellery, watches, and make-up all in one.

In our Life Section, fashion is still on our minds because of the beautiful home of fashion legend Tommy Hilfiger. Other interesting reads include: the unique local flavours of ARC, the country’s first craft gin; the launch of Latina Manila, the first ever collaboration of esteemed wallpaper maker de Gournay and Filipino designer Jonathan Matti; the amazing drive in Las Vegas of our Motoring Editor James Deakin in the latest Corvette; and the revival of the auction house of Finale Art File.

Enjoy this issue! With it, we are taking you to the stars and back.
