a busy summer!

After a spring chock-full of wedding planning, filming and ranching—and another big graduation—this summer is shaping up to be a super-busy one…of course! As busy as life seems to get, every few months we hit a new level of busy-ness; but it seems that everyone I know can say that. After a challenging 2020, I’m so grateful the Covid vaccine is allowing loved ones, friends and family to get out and enjoy one another again. In the past couple of months, I’ve been able to see my sister Betsy and nephew Elliot (who live in Seattle) and my brother Mike (we had our first hug in over a year!), and I’ve been spending time at The Mercantile again, meeting visitors and talking to our awesome staff. What a new beginning! Our…

talk to me!

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? —Nicole Jones, Los Angeles This is so difficult! I want to just say sushi, but in terms of an official meal, here goes: beef filet with béarnaise sauce, lobster tail with drawn butter, creamed spinach and probably crème brûlée for dessert. (OK, and sushi!) And my restaurant meal would be pasta with octopus and bone marrow at Marea in New York City. I hope I get to have it again someday! What is your favorite summer cocktail? —Africa Fine, Boynton Beach, FL I love any kind of berry lemonade or limeade with a splash of vodka! I especially associate my Blueberry-Basil Limeade with summertime. To make it, heat 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in…

the sweetest shower

Before Ree’s oldest daughter, Alex, married the man of her dreams on May 1 (see the wedding on page 14!), family and friends gathered in Pawhuska for a much smaller—but very special—occasion: a shower for the bride-to-be. The event, which took place upstairs at The Mercantile, Ree’s Pawhuska store, had all the hallmarks of a classic shower, including beautiful floral centerpieces and lots of thoughtful gifts. But there were also some fun twists, like an Instagram-worthy balloon backdrop and a stunning cake decorated with edible gold leaf. Pink and white were the colors of the day, and Alex and her sister Paige dressed to match the palette. Read on for the details—you might want to steal an idea or two! A Little Toast Every guest received a mini bottle of bubbly labeled…

wedding bliss

Everyone who attended Alex Drummond and Mauricio Scott’s wedding at Drummond Ranch on May 1 had the same question at the end: Will there ever be a more beautiful location for a ceremony? From the glorious cross on the hill where the couple said their vows, to the enchanting reception tent, to the spectacular Oklahoma sunset—every scene was simply breathtaking. Here are some of Ree’s favorite photos from the unforgettable day. To see the whole event unfold, catch The Pioneer Woman: Ranch Wedding on Food Network on June 26. All the Love The kiss was magical, but this shot is special for another reason: Photographer Grant Daniels managed to capture all five siblings at once (from left, Paige, Alex, Bryce, Jamar and Todd). “I love that they’re all together,” Ree says. “And…
