AN analysis of official police data has uncovered huge variations in the number of speeding tickets issued across the country, with some forces catching 160 times more drivers than others.
Just 1,191 motorists were caught by Wiltshire Police and cameras during the 2017/18 financial year, compared with 199,337 in the area covered by Avon and Somerset constabulary.
The Home Office figures, analysed by Dr Adam Snow for the RAC Foundation, show 2,292,536 speeding offences were detected across England and Wales in 2017/18, up four per cent over 2016/17.
