There is an increasing risk of South Africa being used as a conduit for illegal financing, according to a report published by the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) in June. This of course makes getting off the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) greylist, on which South Africa is flagged as a high-risk country due to the ease of illicit financial flows and money laundering, more difficult. Last month, the FATF said South Africa would not be ready to be removed from the greylist.
