MEAT PRICES DOWN
International: New Zealand steers traded 0,21% lower at NZ$469/head and cows traded the same at NZ$299/head. US beef traded mixed: topside traded lower at US$263,51/cwt, rump was lower at US$291,28/cwt, strip loin was lower at US$515,53/cwt, chuck was higher at US$268,24/cwt, and brisket was 1,05% higher at US$294,92/cwt. The US Department of Agriculture Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report for January’s forecast for total meat production has been increased as higher pork, broiler, and turkey production is set to offset lower forecast for beef production.
Domestic: Local prices declined slightly. Prices for the different meat classes were as follows: Class A prices were slightly lower at R36,03/kg and Class C also traded slightly lower at R29,79/kg. The worst drought in decades and rising grain prices will…
