“Remember the things I have done in the past For I alone am God, I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass for I do whatever I wish. . . I have said what I would do, and I will do it.” – Isaiah 46:9-11 What often appears to us as random chance or coincidence is in fact overseen by a sovereign God who knows the number of hairs on every head (Luke 12:7). God states that He is in charge of everything. I am so grateful to be a child of God and to get to experience these coincidences – and I am even more grateful that I get…
“ When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” – Isaiah 59:19 Right now, we are experiencing a flood of insurgency and lawless actions in our land. This, in turn, is causing a spirit of fear and distress to be loosed. We, as the Body of Christ, are empowered to pray and take authority over the forces of darkness. The above verse clearly indicates that God’s Holy Spirit is the overcoming power that drives the enemy away even though the devil appears to be coming in like a flood. The New Testament ‘standard’ that is raised against the enemy is found in the restraining power of the blood of Jesus. His blood renders the enemy harmless.…
Our nation has been challenged by the rising temperature generated by political populism. In one such statement in parliament it was declared that “the time for reconciliation is over.” As believers, this presents a wider challenge of how we ought to deal with challenges in our nation, be it land reform or otherwise, while remaining true to our Biblical convictions. First and foremost, we ought to take what we hear in the political and other realms of life, and hold it up to the light of Scripture. If the noble Bereans searched the Scriptures daily to see if what the apostle Paul said was true, how much more should we hold up the statements of politicians, media, and ourselves to evaluate what is true and good from what is not?…
Tough times and turbulent periods are part of our human experience. Whether a crisis was self-inflicted, God-orchestrated, or of demonic origin, it will eventually come to an end. The tragedy I’ve observed over the years is that many people don’t know how to handle life “beyond a crisis”. This article aims to give a few nuggets of wisdom that will give a better handle beyond any crisis one will ever face. • First and most important is tosaturatr your soul with the Word of God. I have learnt from last fall when Cape Town went through a couple days of gale force winds that being routed to the source is of paramount importance. This revelation came from observing my garden, which had been affected by the strong winds. I noticed that…
What will move the hand of God in our cities and nation? What is God looking for? God is looking to us, as the Church, to stand in the gap on behalf of the nation and cry out to Him from a place of brokenness and humility for His mercy. God spoke through Ezekiel saying, “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30. A powerful dream The Church is called to identify with the sin of the nation and intercede on the behalf of the people so that God may spare us. We must also acknowledge our own sin…
Why is the Church not influencing society? Why are evangelical Christians so silent in the public domain with regards to issues of the day? Voicing the teachings of the Bible regarding daily living seems largely confined to church buildings, Christian magazines, and Christian television and radio; which is seldom accessed by the mainstream public. Issues such as: violent / destructive protests and labour strikes, murders and crime due to gangsterism and farm attacks, introduction of ungodly and unbiblical laws and regulations, frequent criticism of Christianity in public spaces, obsession with political correctness, market domination of foodstuffs offered to idols, and blasphemy against the Name of Christ on public television are just some of the things that continue unabated due to our indifference, and also results in God’s judgement over our…
