This past weekend, a devastating storm swept through large parts of the Midlands, severely affecting communities in Impendle, uMngeni, and Msunduzi.
Areas such as Mpophomeni and surrounding communities in uMngeni, as well as Mafakathini in Msunduzi and Impendle, were among the hardest hit.
In uMngeni, residents witnessed what capable, responsive governance looks like. The DA-led municipality acted swiftly, mobilising resources and deploying teams to assist affected communities.
Mayor Chris Pappas was on the ground, personally overseeing relief
efforts, assessing damage, and ensuring that residents received the support they needed without delay.
In stark contrast, just across the border in Msunduzi, there has been a deafening silence. The Msunduzi mayor has been absent, with no visible leadership, no coordinated relief effort, no site visits, and no meaningful communication to affected residents.…
