A long time ago, in a city far, far away from my home town, I took a seat in a packed Manhattan cinema to watch Star Wars: The Phantom Menacefor the first time. How far from home? A couple of thousand miles, give or take. You kids won’t remember, but before digital projection and worldwide simultaneous releases, big movies opened in the U.S. months before they would reach remote corners of the planet like London, England.
