For this issue, she created ‘Play Time’ (page 30) shot in a 1970s-era home she discovered in the French Basque Country. “The house is for rent, yet it’s full of vintage furniture and family souvenirs — even the family pictures are still in the original frames,” says Lameyre, who originally hails from the South of France and initially came to Paris to study scenography. The renovation of this 1860s BROOKLYN TOWNHOUSE is a lesson in REFINEMENT by interior designer Jae Joo. Revitalising many of the building’s original features — including multiple marble fireplaces and an incredible central staircase — the project is an ODE TO THE PAST while nodding to the future. “We made countless changes yet the soul of the house is still intact,” Joo says. A few weeks ago, I was invited to the opening of the new Hermès flagship store in Sydney. It was the first time I had seen my team in person since lockdown began back in March — we’re all still working from home — and it was refreshing to immerse ourselves in a world of elevated design. Not only did we marvel at the craftsmanship that Hermès is celebrated for, we stood back to admire the incredible attention to detail.
