‘tis the season to give’

This is our last issue of 2019. As I look back on the year that was, I see the myriad of changes that we—the magazine and I—went through. Marking 18 years as editor-in-chief is a feat in itself, but to get to this point, one has to “know the ropes”— and it did not come easy. I have learnt so much from the peaks and valleys I’ve encountered over the years, and I look forward to where circumstances will take me next. There will be a lot of changes coming up, and I am grateful for all that such will bring ! This month is dedicated to philanthropy—which is but fitting for this season of giving. Get to know seven young men and women, all under 40, who have made it…

a path to hope

Nanette Medved-Po first graced our cover in November of 2012, when she was chosen as Philippine Tatler’s representative to Asia’s Most Stylish. Since then, she has done many a spectacular deed in the name of giving, through her non-profit organisation Generation HOPE. Her achievements earned for her in 2017 a recognition from Forbes Magazine as one of Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy. As such, she makes for a most fitting cover lady for our philanthropy issue. To fully capture the essence of Generation HOPE’s endeavours, the Philippine Tatler team flew to one of its school projects in General Santos City for the shoot. After a missed flight and a 45-minute drive from the city proper to Colot S Aligado Indigenous People High School, escorted by an army truck of about a dozen…

spanish romance

Alex Eduque flew to Spain to celebrate the wedding of her close friends Chris Imperial and Isa Palabyab. Little did she know that her longtime boyfriend Mikkel Puyat, who is currently doing his MBA in Madrid, had planned to surprise her with the most beautiful gift on the eve of her birthday. It was not the typical engagement: no party, no elaborate proposal—just beautifully intimate. Unlike other guys who would get down on their one knee, Mikkel simply presented the ring, signifying the beginning of a new chapter. It is a destination wedding set for 2020. The plan is for it to be small and personal, with just family and their closest friends.…
