Fred Rogers was an American children’s television show host from the ’60s and ’70s. He often told this story from when he was a young child after experiencing traumatic events unfold on television. “My mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realising that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.” We worked on this Health and Hauora issue in the weeks leading up to the horrific events that unfolded on the 15th of March.
