A Scottish farmer and his wife have transformed a former Royal Navy search-and-rescue helicopter into a holiday home. Martyn Steedman and his wife, Louise, purchased the retired Sea King ZA127 and have spent over $65,000 renovating the helicopter into luxury accommodation. Louise Steedman explained, “It all started with the Sea Kings being decommissioned and we saw them on the telly flying around Scotland.” After Mr Steedman successfully purchased the Sea King ZA127 via the Ministry of Defence auction online, the aircraft made a 514 kilometre journey from Lincolnshire to Scotland. The Steedman’s then restored the exterior to its original state and renovated the 17-metre-long helicopter’s interior into a home that sleeps up to six guests. Louise said, “We’ve retained the original dashboard, roof panel switches and foot pedals, so customers…

A regional airline has celebrated transporting its millionth passenger on board the world’s shortest route. The trip officially takes two minutes, but, in the situation of favourable winds, the journey can be completed in just 47 seconds. Loganair’s Managing Director, Jonathan Hinkles, explained the service is essential to connecting two of the Orkney Islands and said, “The route is a jewel in our network and known across the world...It’s used by teachers, doctors, policemen and school pupils, helping them to go about their daily routines with ease and simplicity.” Veteran flyer, Anne Rendall, received a bouquet of flowers after flying from Westray to Papa Westray over 10,000 times on-board the eight-seater aircraft.
