why you shouldn't worry about having the best kit

WILL, SKILL & DOLLAR BILL A creative persons output is limited (or promoted) by three elements. Imagine it being thirds of a creative pie and the more of the pie you have, the better chance you have of creating magic. Will – The get-up-and-go to go out and create imagery. You may not have a budget, you may not have any discernible knowledge or formal training, but if you have the will to get up and go create some images then you are making a great start! Skill - The knowledge you need to understand why images look the way they do, how to control your settings, the lighting, the subject. This transforms ‘taking a picture’ into ‘crafting an image’. Dollar Bill – Whether this is your business equipment budget, or your shoot budget being…

Photographic Speciality/Style: Landscape/Wilderness Photography Short Bio: I’m a pretty laid-back Aussie, who made landscape photography my full-time career 5 years ago. I live in Te Anau, New Zealand. and have a wife and two young kids. I primarily run photography workshops here in New Zealand and other scenic locations around the world. I have a love for wilderness and particularly the Fiordland landscape, which is in my backyard. and where you’ll commonly find me. How did your love of Photography start? As a teenager, I had an interest in videography. I grew up skateboarding so I would film my friends and edit videos. As I got into my early 20’s I decided to give still photography a try, which happened to be around the same time I discovered Instagram, at the start of 2012. Instagram was relatively…

behind the scenes: adrien mauduit's heart of the arctic winter norway timelapse

Believe it or not, we didn't have that much of a winter. Even in Arctic Norway! Since November, 13 consecutive extra-tropical cyclones have brushed the coast of Norway affecting even the coldest places of the country. As a consequence, lots of positive temperatures and rain on top of the snow, somehow destroying the typical arctic wonderland. In these moments it was important for me to get out there whenever I could and capture all I could get. Cold also meant clearer skies and, as a result, aurora. Nonetheless it was never as easy as that because of the solar minimum we are at. It means lower auroral activity and fewer big…
