BEEF PRICES UP
International: New Zealand steers traded 0,40% higher at NZ$504/head and cows traded flat at NZ$360/head. US prices were mostly lower: topside was 0,88% lower at US$216,30/cwt, rump was 2,63% higher at US$312,45/cwt, strip loin was 1,77% lower at US$501,79/cwt, chuck was 0,29% higher at US$207,79/cwt, and brisket was 3,93% lower at US$202,03/cwt. The carcass price was 1,38% lower at US$268,16/cwt. Above average rainfall forecasted for northern Australia over the next three months will boost the rebuilding of cattle herds and support prices.
Domestic: Class A prices were 0,47% higher at R38,34/kg and Class C prices were 0,26% higher at R30,90/kg. The weaner price was 0,34% up at R20,46/kg. The hide price was 0,20% higher at R15,32/kg. There was a 9,35% month-on-month decline in slaughtering numbers.
