Well, you’ve got a choice of two, either side of the Franco-Spanish border, but today we’re talking about the Spanish one. It’s about 50 miles south of Bilbao, as the crow flies.

Good point. It’s not much further by road though. And once there, you’re in for a treat. The old town is lovely — all honey-coloured stone and cobbles, parks and plazas. It’s even better on a warm evening, with all the locals on the streets, seeing and being seen, shopping, gossiping, eating and drinking.
