Although Olympus is currently not in India, there is no way anyone can forget its contribution to photography, starting with the PEN series, the OM-1 and its successors, the formidable OM-4, the X-A, the Mju series and finally, the OM-D range. Even in my few visits to this amazing hill station I enjoyed the most when it was under a fog and morning mist. The sudden presence and momentary disappearance of the clouds..... I have stood for hours at some places just to soak in the atmosphere. The tourists horseback riding, hand-drawn rickshaws ferrying about, green moss-covered places, the long tree roots, and some old, almost dilapidated houses together provide a mystical experience. Wish to see more such articles from you. With all…

nikon releases z50 dx-format mirrorless

Nikon has announced the Z50, Nikon’s first DX-format mirrorless camera. The Z50 is equipped with the Z mount, which is compatible with both the Nikkor Z DX and Nikkor Z FX. It has an effective pixel count of 20.9 MP and is the first Nikon DX-format camera to be equipped with a CMOS sensor that incorporates focal-plane phase-detection AF pixels. The 209 focus points cover approximately 87 percent of the imaging area horizontally, and approximately 85 percent vertically. The hybrid AF system uses an algorithm optimised for the DXformat sensor, and focuses by automatically switching between focal-plane phase-detection AF and contrast-detect AF. The Z50 is equipped with eye-detection AF, which recognises and focusses on an eye of human subjects, even as they are moving. Eye-detection AF can also be used when…
