The Salt River Heritage Society, in celebration of Heritage Month, will present its second edition of the Salt River Heritage Street Festival on September 30.
The event, which starts at 2pm on the corner of Pope and Kingsley roads, promises a day filled with street art, local culinary delights, music, poetry and talks, all showcasing the diverse and intangible cultural heritage of the community.
Organisers said three new street murals, introduced by local street artist Natheer Hoosain, also known as Gogga, and acclaimed photographer and activist Nawawie Mathews, will be available for viewing.
“We celebrate the cultural value of graffiti and street art as a means of social connection and creativity, sparking conversations and shedding light on important issues,” said Nadia Agherdine, deputy chairperson of the Salt River Heritage Society.…
