BEEF PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded higher at NZ$481/head and NZ$307/head respectively. US beef prices were lower: topside was 5,67% lower at US$193,62/cwt, rump was 5,61% lower at US$326,05/cwt, strip loin was 3,93% lower at $602,97/cwt, chuck traded 1,55% lower at US$206,63/cwt, and brisket traded 1,61% lower at US$189,60/cwt.
The beef market is expected to trend higher in the short term due to a seasonal uptick. New Zealand slaughter rates are expected to increase through May, driven by increasing numbers of cull cows.
Domestic: Local prices were mixed. Class A prices decreased 0,94% to R38,05/kg and Class C prices decreased 2,78% to R27,60/kg. The weaner price rose 14% to R19,58/kg and the hide price fell to R14,66/kg. International bearish markets should put pressure on the…
