BEEF PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded flat at NZ$514/head and NZ$383/head respectively. US beef prices were as follows: topside was 2,87% lower at US$201,52/cwt, rump was 2,49% lower at US$285,32/cwt, strip loin was 3,18% lower at US$603,83/cwt, chuck was 1,89% higher at $203,30/cwt, and brisket was 6,48% higher at US$277,68/cwt. Latest outlooks expect supply shortages to push cattle prices higher in the 2016/2017 season.
Domestic: Local prices decreased. Class A prices were 0,86% lower at R38/kg and Class C was 0,57% higher at R28,45/kg. The weaner price was 1,12% higher at R19,78/kg. The hide price was 0,20% higher at R15,11/kg. A week-on-week increase in slaughter numbers may have added pressure to domestic market prices.
