BEEF PRICES DOWN
International: New Zealand steers traded 2,14% lower at NZ$503/head and cows traded 2,09% lower at NZ$375/head.US prices were mostly lower: topside was 6,64% lower at US$188,13/cwt, rump was 5,33% lower at US$270,10/cwt, strip loin 5,80% lower at US$568,82/cwt, chuck 4,93% lower at US$193,27/cwt, and brisket 6,33% higher at US$295,26/cwt. The carcass price was 2,21% lower at US$300,80/cwt. New Zealand cattle slaughter numbers are declining rapidly as winter sets in.
Domestic: Local prices declined. Class A prices were 0,29 lower at R37,40/kg and Class C was 0,39% higher at R28,50/kg. The weaner prices was 1,18% lower at R19,33/kg. The hide price was 0,93% higher at R15,25/kg. Month-end buying and a decline in slaughtering numbers may support prices.
