BEEF PRICES UP
International: New Zealand steers traded 0,40% higher at NZ$505/head, and cows traded the same at NZ$375/head. US prices were mostly higher: topside was 7,85% higher at US$213,78/cwt, rump was 4,21% higher at US$273,12/cwt, strip loin was 0,93% lower at US$552,30/cwt, chuck was 5,28% higher at US$205,48/cwt, and brisket was 0,29% lower at US$300,23/cwt. The carcass price was 1,31% higher at US$305,07/cwt. A combination of weak demand and high exchange rates added a bearish tone to the market.
Domestic: Beef prices improved. Class A prices were 0,26% higher at R38,05/kg and Class C was 2,42% higher at R30/kg. The weaner price was 1,86% higher at R19,55/kg. The hide price was the same at R15,32/kg. An 11,76% increase in slaughterings is putting pressure on prices.
