BEEF PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded flat at NZ$505/head and NZ$375/head respectively. US prices were mostly higher: topside was 5,24% higher at US$225/cwt, rump was higher at US$319/cwt, strip loin was 8,64% higher at US$570/cwt, chuck traded 10,14% higher at US$225,50/cwt, and brisket was 1,61% lower at US$280/cwt. The carcass price was 6,44% higher at US$311,93/cwt. High prices are being driven by strong demand and record low herd numbers in Australia.
Domestic: Local prices were mixed. Class A was 0,16% lower at R37,55/kg and Class C was 0,99% higher at R30,48/kg. Weaner prices were 0,97% higher at R19,69/kg. The hide price was 0,78% higher at R15,42/kg. Namibia is the first African country to export beef to the US.
