MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded higher at NZ$568/head and NZ$424/head respectively. US beef traded as follows: topside traded higher at US$297,07/cwt, rump higher at US$417,65/cwt, strip loin higher at US$592,48/cwt, chuck slightly higher at US$US303,32/cwt, brisket slightly lower at US$250,47/cwt, and the carcass price was US$363,04/cwt. In New Zealand, processors believe they will reach their quota limits before the end of the year, which means that beef will have to be offloaded to other markets, possibly at lower prices.
Domestic: Local prices were mixed. The various meat classes traded as follows: Class A prices increased to R33,98/kg, Class C increased to R30,00/kg, and contract prices rose to R34,00kg. Weaner prices were slightly higher at R20,23/kg. Hide prices were lower at R14,07/kg. Worldwide, supply of…
