MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers traded flat at NZ$583/head and cows traded slightly higher at NZ$383/head.US beef traded mostly lower: topside traded lower at US$253,60/cwt, rump traded lower at US$445,42/cwt, strip loin traded lower at US$582,36/cwt, chuck traded slightly lower at US$278,83/cwt, brisket traded slightly lower at US$254,13/cwt, and the carcass price was US$335,97/cwt.
Domestic: Local prices increased. The various meat classes traded as follows: Class A prices increased 0,20% to 35,20/kg, Class B traded flat at R30,88/kg, and Class C increased 1,08% to R29,07/kg. Weaner prices were flat at R20,11/kg. According to the Red Meat Abattoir Association, slaughter numbers decreased. Hide prices were slightly higher at R12,23/kg, due to global prices remaining generally low as supply continues to outstrip demand.
