NWK recently accepted a R296,4 million offer from Country Bird Holdings (CBH) to purchase its broiler and animal feed business, Opti Agri.
As part of the agreement, NWK would not be allowed to be involved in the production of animal feed in a 500km radius of the Opti Agri mill in Lichtenburg, North West, for a three-year period.
NWK would, however, still be allowed to sell and distribute its Opti-branded products, but not in neighbouring countries. It was envisaged that the sale transaction would not lead to any job losses, a statement by the company said.
According to Theo Rabe, CEO of NWK, CBH had also agreed to, as far as possible, meet all existing contracts. The supply agreement with RCL Foods Limited (Rainbow) would, however, be terminated and both…
