ON 19 MARCH, the House of Lords voted to pardon women who have been convicted – and in some cases jailed – for having abortions beyond the legal timeframe of 24 weeks. This comes less than a year after the House of Commons voted to end the criminalisation of those women. That 24-week legal framework still exists, by the way.
