Recently, I’ve been watching Line Of Duty and Killing Eve, and on Netflix, I watched The Last Kingdom, as well as an enormous 13 hours on Vietnam: Ken Burns and Lynn Novick’s documentary The Vietnam War. It was really heavy going, but because I love history I found it absolutely fascinating. Comedy-wise, I loved Fleabag, and I love watching Outnumbered with my kids. I reckon they then think up some ideas for me from it, which is always dangerous! When it comes to films, there’s usually an argument about what to watch, but we reach an agreement, then we jump on the sofa. I love watching films with the kids. We just saw The Grand Budapest Hotel, and all the Star Wars and Pixar films – I think they’re brilliant.…

FREDDIE JONES 1927-2019 Tributes have been paid to veteran actor Freddie Jones, who sadly passed away on 9 July, aged 91. Known to soap fans as Emmerdale’s loveable rogue Sandy Thomas, the star had a stellar career over six decades, and was lauded for his roles in hit films including The Elephant Man, and on TV in classic series such as The Caesars. It was in 2005 that Freddie was invited to join Emmerdale, as the father of vicar Ashley Thomas. The pair’s spiky relationship mellowed over the next few years, while Sandy’s friendship with Edna Birch brought a smile to viewers’ faces.
