Despite the hard-hitting nature of the dementia storyline, Nigel’s comeback after more than 25 years has inspired a wave of nostalgia for the fans, and Paul himself.
“People have been very nice,” grins the star. “Even today, I’ve been stopped about four times! Nigel being back reminds them of a time when they were younger. It’s nice to be told they’re happy to see me.
“Doing scenes with Steve [McFadden, who plays Phil] and Ross [Kemp, aka Grant] during the 40th anniversary week was amazing,” he adds. “It felt like time didn’t exist, and we picked up where we left off like it was yesterday.”…
