Dear Reader, This is a special issue of Interweave Knits: We’re celebrating 25 years of publication, our silver anniversary. Twenty-five years seems like a long time—so long, in fact, that I mistakenly assumed that Knits predated my knitting career. It does not. Adding silver foil to knit fabric is one of my favorite embellishment techniques. Although it looks like something that belongs in a fashion magazine, the technique is inexpensive and doesn’t require many tools or supplies. The materials can be found at local craft shops, usually in the paper-crafts section, but, failing that, try a web search of “fabric vinyl transfer foil” to source a supplier. I recommend practicing on a swatch that uses your project yarn before starting on your full project. Supplies • Flat-head synthetic brush• Foil adhesive• Vinyl transfer foil sheets• Iron Directions Using the flat-head brush, carefully paint on the adhesive. The wide strands of a prominent braided cable twist their way up the front of the Lambent Pullover and flow seamlessly into the vintage-style collar.
