“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 6:12 A few months ago my home church started advertising a 6-week Bible study course on ‘The Armor of God’ by Priscilla Shirer. I had this strong urge to attend even though I felt that I had a good knowledge on the topic. I had studied it at Bible School and we have featured many great articles on it in the past in the magazines. Nevertheless, I have learnt to be obedient to these “promptings” and generally it is the Holy Spirit wanting to teach me something for my own good. I enrolled and all that…
In January 2002, immediately after completing my law degree, I was invited to join our church staff. Although I knew this to be the right thing, I had to wrestle with a sense of ‘losing out.’ After all, my friends were off to big cities, working for big law firms, and steadily climbing the ladder of success, while I was staying in a small town, preaching the Gospel to students, and unsure of how I would make ends meet. When we feel this way, we should ask ourselves: what does true success look like, and what difference does our primary identity make? Consider John the Baptist. Jesus arrives on the scene and John’s very own disciples leave him. Soon after, he gets thrown into prison for doing good. Perhaps he…
“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s Body. We are many parts of one Body, and we all belong to each other. In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” – Romans 12:4-8. The Word…
With the prayer event at Little Falls Christian Centre on 13, 14, & 15 October 2017, our main theme is prayer for our nation and its healing. Our role, as prayer warriors, is to uphold our nation and the leaders through consistent and persistent prayer. We must never forget the fact that no matter what situations look like, God is in control. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 – “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” We…
Psalm 1 is an introduction to the book of Psalms. The Psalms as a whole honestly reflect the emotions of the psalmist, yet after unburdening the psalmist commits to living a more faithful life. At the moment we live in a society where the wicked seem to act with impunity. We also seem to live in a generation that has little or no concern regarding Christ’s presence in their lives. May the eyes of your heart be opened as you consider the presence of Christ in your daily walk. True happiness is found when the Godly emulate Christ’s law of love Truly happy is the person who faithfully chooses not to heed the advice of the wicked, nor to follow the example of the rebellious, nor join in with those…
