For an OS still more than half a year away from general availability, Win10 is pretty solid. For everyday tasks it feels as responsive as Win8.1, and surprisingly came out on top in the benchmark tests. We tested both the Technical Preview and Win8.1 on a laptop with a 2.1GHz quad-core AMD A8-550M APU with Radeon HD8550G graphics and 8GB of RAM. We used the Boot Racer app to measure boot-up times. While 8.1 took 93.3 seconds to boot to a usable desktop, the TP took just 51.6s. Next up we measured memory bandwidth with SiSoft Sandra. I went with the Corsair C70 case you recommended in “Blueprints”, and it’s an amazing case to work with. I went with the green case for aesthetics only (it feels like an old ammo can) and enjoyed, for the first time in a long time, building my new machine. Everything was easy to work with, remove, or attach. More room inside is hard to imagine. Are there better cases out there? Sure, but the price was right and I’ve never been happier.
