Recent mention of Harley Sportsters reminded me that I actually had my name on a new one, some years ago, and a mix-up with the taxman (bill sent to an address I’d moved from and it hadn’t been forwarded) meant I had to cancel it.
Somehow I never got round to buying one. I’m thinking about it now, though, because I still like grumbly cruisers.
Buying a used Sportster is often a better buy than buying new. They tend to be poverty spec, to keep the price down, and it’s easier and cheaper to let someone else do the job of changing the tank for something bigger than a teacup, improving the brakes, adding a better seat, backrest, screen, luggage, performance kit, whatever. You don’t so much buy a Harley…
